A 5-mile walking trail around the lake offers a picturesque and invigorating hike that takes just a couple of hours to complete.
Anderson Pond is a smaller body of water on Eastman's property that's surrounded by private homes and features a walking trail.
In the summer months, the South Cove Activity Center offers watercraft rentals, including canoes, kayaks, water bikes, and paddle boards. There's also a small kiosk, Peppermint Patty, that serves ice cream and snacks. The center provides residents with a well-equipped gym and indoor pool, as well as meeting rooms, foosball, ping-pong, and air hockey.
The Center at Eastman houses a pro shop in the summer to support the 18-hole championship golf course and a cross-country shop in the winter to support the 36 kilometers of groomed trails. The upper floor of the center is home to Forbes Tavern, a casual dining spot that's open year-round. The center is also a popular gathering spot for music, lectures, and community events.
Created in 1971, in 2021 Eastman celebrated its 50th anniversary. Originally envisioned as a recreational and retirement community it has evolved into a diverse population with year-round residents, young families, retirees as well as second homeowners. With approximately 1,000 homes and 336 condos comprising the community there is room for everyone.
In 2016 Eastman was named by the MetLife Foundation/Generations United the Best Intergenerational Community in the US.
